"Because now he knew where his treasure was" - The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho-

Who is Shu?

Hello, I am Shu.

A Pilates and dance enthusiast… serial cuddler and professional hype woman.

I find joy in pop songs and color-coordinated bookshelves.

My soul inhabits two continents at the same time.

I used to be a professional nomad armed with Finance and Accounting mojo and a can-move-to-any-city-in-the-world attitude.

One day, my career took me to Paris and I did the most cliched thing in the world.

I fell in love with a witty, intelligent and kind French man.

That was when the roots started to grow.

Home is now Paris, and home will also always be Malaysia.

I grew up in a small town in northeastern Borneo, Malaysia. My childhood was a tapestry of memories: building sandcastles on the beach, picnicking in the mountains, and bathing in rivers. I loved my small town, but I also yearned to explore the world; to live in different cities, and to prove to myself that anything was possible.

At eleven, I discovered western astrology. It revealed that my intensity was a gift, a source of passion and tenacity. This belief propelled me forward - I am capable of everything I set my mind to.

At twenty-two, I attempted to move to London, but found myself back in Borneo.

There, I discovered the enchanting world of Argentine Tango. This newfound passion ignited a desire to dance more often, leading me to find a job in Kuala Lumpur. A chance encounter with a wise and inspiring woman in Kuala Lumpur would change the course of my life.

Years later, I found myself in her living room in Dubai, immersed in the study of Chinese astrology under her guidance.

In Paulo Coelho's The Alchemist, Santiago's journey to the Pyramids revealed that the treasure he sought was buried beneath a Sycamore tree in an abandoned church, where he used to sleep under as a shepherd.

Similarly, Dubai served as my metaphorical Pyramids. Learning Chinese astrology was like reading a map about myself ; my deepest desires, strengths, opportunities and challenges - it showed me the possibilities I had encountered, and the possibilities I would encounter. The answers had always been within me.

The journey back to one’s Sycamore tree need not be so long and arduous. Some of the suffering could have been avoided, some lessons could have been less painful. I could have gotten to the same point sooner, had I the guidance. The gap between ignorance and wisdom can be closed with knowledge and a clear personal strategy.
